He had a great smile and was a lovely person. Rare with great artists. These are a few of the photos I have of the several times I met him. His great art had a profound impact on me pursuing my own career in fine art.
One time a group of us were standing with Mr Rauschenberg outside the Bobbie Greenfield Gallery (when it was in Venice) when someone asked him what was the one thing that might sum up what he thought was necessary to be a great artist and he said after thinking for just a moment... "everything you see is important." I thought to myself what a great answer.
